Meet the England internationals who are desperate for a January switch

With fast approaching on the horizon, there remains only a couple of opportunities for England’s elite to punch their ticket to Germany.

Watching the Three Lions punch their European Championship ticket without breaking much of a sweat, Gareth Southgate’s superstar squad find themselves tipped as a leading contender next summer.

Not getting their hands on a piece of international silverware since their World Cup success way back in 1966, stars from up and down the country and all desperate to make Southgate’s shortlist.

However, with the getting underway in just over a month s time, there are plenty of big-name candidates who are desperate to kickstart their careers with a new adventure.

Ahead of what looks set to be a hectic January window, we have taken a glance at a few England internationals that could force through a Premier League switch.

Aaron Ramsadle Arsenal

Although might have received a string of plaudits last season as Arsenal narrowly missed out on the chance to get their hands on a first Premier League crown since 2004, the former Sheffield United shot-stopper now finds himself on the outside looking in.

Shockingly replaced by summer recruit David Raya and now firmly installed as number-two goalkeeping option, Ramsdale has found himself at the heart of a major saga.

While the 25-year-old might have made a rare start away at Brentford last weekend as the Gunners clinched a 1-0 victory in west London, Arteta has made it abundantly clear that it is Raya who remains his first choice between the sticks.

With Southgate previously stating that Ramsdale must be getting regular first-team minutes if he is to challenge Jordan Pickford at EURO 24, it has been reported that are weighing up a January swoop when the window opens up.

Southgate on Ramsdale situation: “I think longer term, we re just going to have to see how it is”.

“If we get to March and he s 6 months without playing regularly, I m never going to promise things that I couldn t guarantee delivering”.

“I spoke to him. He knows that”.

Kalvin Phillips Manchester City

While might have only arrived at the Etihad last year following a £45million move from boyhood club Leeds, the 27-year-old finds himself at the heart of a Manchester City nightmare.

Drastically struggling to break into Pep Guardiola’s first-team plans, Phillips has yet to make a single start this season and finds his career at a real crossroads.

Unable to dethrone Rodri at the heart of City’s midfield and simply watching on from the sidelines as the Sky Blues completed a historic treble-winning campaign last season, the 31-cap international came under real scrutiny over the summer as he elected to stay put in Manchester.

However, with it heavily suggested that both parties have accepted that Phillips will finally be moved on come January, it has been reported that both and Italian icons Juventus are monitoring the situation closely.

Eric Dier Tottenham

While Tottenham might be in the midst of an injury crisis in north London with the likes of James Maddison and Micky van de Ven not set to feature again until the New Year, still finds himself unable to break into Ange Postecoglou s first-team picture.

Once again left as an unused sub last weekend as Spurs collapsed to a at home against Aston Villa, the one-time Sporting Lisbon starlet has quickly plummeted down Postecoglou s pecking order.

Making just a single Premier League start this season and with the Tottenham hierarchy reportedly desperate to move Dier on during the January transfer window, the 29-year-old is also soon entering the final 12 months of his current deal in north London.

Clearly accepting that he is in need of a fresh start away from the English capital, it has been suggested that both Fulham and German giants have registered some potential interest.

Eric Dier could leave Spurs in January after again being dropped for the Villa defeat.
